TimeTree 4 serves as a comprehensive repository of evolutionary timescale information accessible to the public. The application facilitates the exploration of a vast array of divergence times documented in scientific literature, utilizing a tree-based system to analyze and present molecular time estimates between selected organisms. By inputting the names of two taxa for comparison, users can access results through intuitively organized tabs.

With a database comprising data from 2,274 studies and 50,632 species, TimeTree 4 offers substantial information for users. The platform commits to continual expansion, with ongoing data inclusion from research endeavors.

Operating on iOS 8.0 or later, TimeTree 4 is a user-friendly tool for accessing and understanding evolutionary timelines.

The TimeTree project is under the joint leadership of Blair Hedges from the Center for Biodiversity at Temple University and Sudhir Kumar from the Institute for Genomics and Evolutionary Medicine at Temple University. Its progress has been supported by funding from prominent institutions including the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, NASA Astrobiology Institute, and Science Foundation of Arizona.
